The holidays sure do bring up different emotions and feelings for people, don’t they?
It’s the holiday season.
It’s the HOLIDAY SEASON!
… same words but totally different feelings.
For me, I am somewhere in between. I love my family and, by enlarge, don’t really mind spending time with them. Some may even say I enjoy it. (That’s me! I would say that!!) I also love, love, love decorating my house for Christmas. Putting away the blues and greys of my living room and replacing them with the candy apple reds, shiny silvers, and rustic green boughs just makes my heart happy. You will quite often catch me just sitting in my living room, with the fireplace on, doing nothing but enjoying the ambiance and counting my blessings.
Being a teacher, though – and some of you know where I am going with this- is very difficult during the holiday season. It’s like a flip switches in every child around December 1st and it turns off all of their good sense. Seriously, after Halloween, my class started singing “All I want for Christmas” by Mariah Carey. Then after Thanksgiving (which happened to be December 2 this year) they came back to school and said that song was skibidy toilet. (Don’t even get me started…) Their good sense…. gone.
Be that as it may, I still love the holidays. I love the snow, the cold, and the pretty lights.
I love the thought of giving a gift to a family member or friend that will bring them joy.
The get-togethers and parties make me smile.
How about you?
