Midwinter Love - Pizza With a Fork Games

We came back! This time we brought extra flashlights, blankets, and batteries just in case.

Midwinter Gaming Convention is one of our favorite events during the year. Anne and her team have created such a homey and warm place to play games, even in the dead of winter. (Which is also a great game that I recently played!) We had so much fun this year playing Dungeon Crawler Cribbage, Wandering Towers, Magic Maze, Marvel Zombicide, Cubitos and David’s new favorite… Feed the Cracken!

This year, we were also VENDORS!! That’s right! Pizza With a Fork had a booth in the Indy Press Room. This was a room specifically for independent game publishers who were local designers. We got to hang out with some of the coolest people every!! (And added a bunch of games to our collection because of them!)

Our new friends had some super impressive games. Check them out below:

TNT Games: Ben and John created Mythic Gems. It’s such a fun game that changes every time you play. I love that the board can be changed mid-play, and the gems are super cool! (My brother bought the game.) Ben and John were tons of fun to hang with this weekend!

Lake Effect Games: Josh, Sam, Paige and Natalee had such a fun booth. They had a Plink-O board, first of all, and I won a butterscotch Dum-Dums sucker that I thoroughly enjoyed. They developed a game called Mission to the Moon. It was a super simple game to explain and so, so, so much fun to play. Launching partially completed rockets for our space agency, in hopes that it might make it off the ground and we could complete our missions first, was AWESOME! (We bought the game.)

Mythica Gaming: Jimmy and Janette hosted the Mythica Games table, and they had so many cool games! We purchased Dualing Dice last year from Jimmy, but in the Indy room got to hear all about Legends of Draxia, which is their flagship game and has lots and lots of expansions. It’s a strategy game where collecting resources to kill monsters and fight off dragons will get you to victory. It’s on my list of games to play, for sure!

Lone Colossus Games: It was great to meet Josh and hear about his role playing games. While he has lots of RPGs, we ended up getting Wyrmlings for our niece. Josh described it as a My Little Ponies inspired dragon adventure with little to no set up to play. I love the stories, the art, and the creative adventures that you go on in this cute RPG.

Storm Bunny Studios: Jaye was at our neighboring table and he was supa’ cool! His RPG collection is quite amazing. He showed us his very first published book with signatures from people who played and helped with the design. The book was well loved and equally as impressive as some of his newer campaigns. I especially loved hearing about Rhune: Dawn of Twilight…probably because of the whole Ragnarok and Norse mythology. He and I chatted about games, writing, and all things Adobe.

It was a FANTASTIC convention!!
