Ability MKE Now! Radio Interview
One of the best things about making our game is meeting amazing people! It has been a blast to meet game players from all over during this experience. Two weeks ago, we got to talk with friends, Sue & Kurt Roskopf, who have a radio show on Riverwest Radio called AbilityMKE Now! Here is a link for our Pizza With a Fork episode.
We talked with Sue, Kurt and new friend DiVa about how we designed Haunted Inheritance with those with disabilities in mind. Sue asked us to share a bit about how we designed the game. One of the ideas we kept in mind was the idea of having cards, dice and spaces use colors AND symbols to help those who are color blind. We wanted to make sure that friends and family could play the game comfortably and focus on the fun & strategy. DiVa shared with us some awesome insights for those in wheelchairs like having a round gaming table to help fit motorized wheelchairs and providing shaker cups for games with dice. She was a wealth of great ideas!!
We want Pizza With a Fork games to be fun and accessible for ALL gamers! Check out our blog for more information.
Midwinter Gaming Convention
We say ‘Mid‘! You say ‘Winter‘!
Mid!
Winter!
Mid!
Winter!
…we are a little excited about it.
In January, we are heading to our next convention! We talked with Anne Holmes with Daydream Productions while we were at the Strong Tower Gamers Convention in Brookfield, WI, back in September. She shared with us that Midwinter Gaming Convention is looking to highlight small game companies (check!) from Wisconsin (check!) and local designers. (check!) We are hosting 8 session already and are excited to play Haunted Inheritance with new gamers.
We also have an announcement that YOU are the first to find out about!!
We are designing our second game!
It is a super soggy card game for families based on Noah’s ark. The plan is to have a prototype to playtest at the convention. We are still working on the title, but would love feedback on the game at the convention if you are attending. Bring on the floods!
What’s next for Pizza With a Fork? ~ Game News
I wish you could see or hear the ideas that David has for our future games. We watched an interview with game designer Reiner Knizia, who is one of David’s favorite designers and has created over 700 board games. I don’t know what the exact number is, but I feel like David always has new game ideas running through his head! He has prototypes and notes about all kinds of ideas. We are constantly working together to fine tune them. It is fun to flesh some of them out. (The zombie in Haunted Inheritance really liked that!)
Our Noah’s ark game is the next one in line, as you have already read above. Not only do we have several other card and board game ideas coming down the pipe, but we have also seen inspiration blooming in our friends and family.
My grandfather was an inventor and had all kinds of designs that he came up with to make life easier, more fun, and were just plain amazing. One of his ideas was a game that we want to reimagine and design as well. Designing a game can seem overwhelming and is an exciting adventure. So…As Dr. Seuss said,
You’re off to great places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting… so get on your way.
